About the Temple

The main deity of the Cheluvanarayana temple in the yadavagiri hills here is Lord Tirunarayana or Cheluvanarayana. The utsavar here is called as Sampath Kumaran, Ramapriya and Selva Pillai. The temple has three important crowns namely Vairamudi, Raja Mudi which is a gold crown having precious stones given by Raja Wodeyar and Krishnaraja mudi. The Vairamudi festival is an annual affair and is held during the months of March and April. People from all over Karnataka state flock to Melkote to have darshan of the lord adorned with the diamond crown.
Sri Ramanujacharya stayed in Melkote for 14 years and the place is one of the three important places dedicated to this acharya of Vaishnavas. The place is an abhimana sthalam .

How to Reach

Melkote is about 140 kms from Bangalore and around 50 kms from Mysore. It is situated in Mandya district of Karnataka, India.

Sri Ranganatha Temple, Srirangapatna


About the temple

The temple is the abode of Lord Vishnu as Sri Ranganatha swamy. The lord is resting on adhi sesha here and the temple is on kaveri banks. The temple has a big gopuram and huge walls surrounding it depicting ancient architecture.

Srirangapatna is among the Pancharanga kshetram along the river kaveri, others being srirangam, tiruvindalur, kumbakonam and Koyiladi.

How to Reach

Srirangapatna is on the Bangalore –Mysore State Highway. It is closer to Mysore.

Veeraraghava Perumal Temple, Tiruvallur


About the temple

The temple is one among the 108 divya desams of vaishnavas and a part of tondai naadu divyadesams. Amavasya days are believed to be auspicious for visiting this temple.

The presiding deity Veera raghava perumal is in a reclining position in the temple. The lord’s right hand is positioned on Salihothra Munivar’s head while the left hand is in the Gyana Mudra position indicating the teaching of the four Vedas to the Lord Brahma.

How to reach

Tiruvallur is on the Chennai Tirupati highway. A diversion takes you to the temple.

Share autos are the common mode of transport to the temple, although Public transport buses are also there.

Offerings to the Lord

The Lord’s abhishekam is performed only with sandalwood oil.

Salt and pepper offered to the god is believed to cure diseases and restore good health to the devotee. Small metal form of parts of body and other symbols are available in the nearby shops and these are put in the hundial by devotees for curing particular disease. This sthala is also believed to bless people with putra Santana. The lord is popularly known as Vaidhya Veeraraghava Perumal.
